epidemic outbreak

An epidemic outbreak is the result of a virus or bacteria that has rapidly spread amongst a group of people that find themselves in the same place at the same time (i.e., at a party), or in close proximity to each other (i.e., in the same neighbourhood), causing them all to get sick with the same disease. Preventive strategies, such as: mask wearing, social distancing, or even confinement—a method used during the covid-19 pandemic—are useful in stopping epidemic outbreaks.
