Mucus is a thick, sticky, liquid substance that comes out of every person’s nose. They are usually green but sometimes can be yellow or transparent. They can come out when people have a cold, flu or allergies. Mucus makes it difficult to breathe properly, which is why we have to blow our nose.
When referring to mucus in an informal way we typically use the word snot.
