Anorexia is a serious mental disease in which the patient has a sensation of feeling overweight, when in reality they are thin. For this reason, they stop eating, and in some severe cases, starve to death. Anorexia is very common in teenagers, both in boys and girls.
The word is of Greek origin, with an- meaning ‘without’ and orexis ‘appetite’.
