A diet measures a person’s eating and drinking habits. Doctors prescribe a diet for people who want to lose weight because they are too fat, for people who want to gain weight because they are too thin, or for people who have a health problem such as diarrhoea or diabetes.
Everyone should have a healthy diet, and that is why the food pyramid can help us. To eat healthily, you should eat a variety of foods, especially lots of fruit, vegetables and cereals. However, you should be careful not to eat too many sugary or greasy foods, such as sweets.
