PCR

A PCR test is a very reliable test used for different reasons, such as, for scientific research, to identify corpses or to find out if we have a virus or bacteria.

To detect covid-19 we dos so, by taking a sample of secretions from the mucous membrane of the nose and/or throat, (with a cotton swab), or a sample of saliva, collected in a container. This test must be performed by a health professional in a medical centre, which will then be analysed in a laboratory to get a negative or positive result.

The acronym PCR stands for Polymerase Chain Reaction.
