A surgeon is a doctor who specialises in curing diseases or health problems by performing surgery or operating on a part of the body, such as a heart problem, a broken bone, a mole or appendicitis. After being given anaesthesia, the surgeon will start by cutting your skin – to fix or remove what hurts you in your body — and will finish by sewing up the cut with stitches or staples.
